Glucose Screenings

We provide free glucose screenings. This measures your blood sugar at the time you’re tested. You can take this test at any time and don’t need to be fasting. It is important to screen your glucose level and determine if you have diabetes. Here are some CDC facts about diabetes in the US.

  1. More than 37 million people in the United States have diabetes, and 1 in 5 of them don’t know they have it.
  2. Over one third of US adults have pre-diabetes, and more than 8 in 10 of them don’t know they have it.
  3. Diabetes is the eighth leading cause of death in the United States.

Blood Pressure Screenings

We offer free blood pressure screenings. High blood pressure usually has no symptoms, so the only way to know if you have it is to get your blood pressure measured. High blood pressure increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, two leading causes of death for Americans. According to CDC, there are multiple ways to prevent high blood pressure. These are some ways to prevent:

  1. Eat a healthy diet
  2. Keep yourself at a healthy weight
  3. Be physically active
  4. Avoid smoking
  5. Limit alcohol consumption
  6. Get enough sleep

Cholesterol Screenings

The cholesterol test checks your levels of:

a)      Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or “bad” cholesterol. Having high levels of LDL cholesterol can lead to plaque buildup in your arteries and result in heart disease or stroke.

b)      High-density lipoprotein (HDL) or “good” cholesterol. HDL is known as “good” cholesterol because high levels can lower your risk of heart disease and stroke.

c)       Triglycerides, a type of fat in your blood that your body uses for energy. The combination of high levels of triglycerides with low HDL cholesterol or high LDL cholesterol levels can increase your risk for heart attack and stroke.

d)      Total cholesterol, the total amount of cholesterol in your blood based on your HDL, LDL, and triglycerides numbers.
